ATP Finals 2025: Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner battle for year-end No. 1 spot in Turin

The battle is about to begin again.
Carlos Alcaraz used two emojis (number one and sword fight) to emphasize this point in his Instagram post posing with Jannik Sinner after training ahead of the ATP Finals on Friday.
Whether Alcaraz or Sinner will end up as the year-end world No. 1 will be a key concern at this week’s season-ending event in Turin.
Ending a long and grueling season as the best player on tour is a prestigious honor that rewards their talent and consistency over the past 12 months.
Sinner’s title defense will be even more compelling as the 24-year-old Italian has not competed since serving a three-month ban for failing two doping tests.
Spain’s Alcaraz finally dethroned his rival at the top of the rankings in September, winning the final major of 2025 in New York to end Sinner’s 65-week reign.
Now the two-horse race has entered its final race of the season, with 22-year-old Alcaraz looking the favorite to win the showdown.
“If Carlos plays well, there’s no chance, it doesn’t matter what my result is,” Sinner said.
