NHL Rumors: Senator, McTavish, Draft Update, Wild, Rossi – Hockey Writer –

In today’s NHL rumors, Ottawa Senators can look for Anaheim Ducks to fill their top six and can target Mason McTavish. Elsewhere, the team voted and it appears that the NHL’s draft entry will remain fragmented. Finally, Minnesota Wild and Marco Rossi are still working to reach a deal.

Senators may increase microphone

There are a lot of good works around the Senators’ lineup, but there is one missing piece in the first six groups of the forward team. Sports Network’s Alex Adams wrote that the Senator’s character depth, when looking at the forward, mentioned McTavish.

“There are rumors that Anaheim and McTavish are not a happy family. If McTavish leaves Southern California, if Staios is everywhere.

Getting McTavish is not easy or cheap, but it would be a huge loophole if General Manager Steve Staios could implement it. The last general manager, Pierre Dorion, tried to fill the hole by adding Alex Debrincat, but did not do due diligence and ensure he could extend it first. Of course, Staios brought fresh air to Ottawa and his fan base and was confident in his actions. If it is to happen, the McVish obtained will depend on his long-term extension.

With the acquisition of Mikael Granlund and Chris Kreider, some young players, including McTavish and Cutter Gauthier, may be worried about their position in the roster and may want to find another home.

NHL enters draft to keep it spread

As team representatives decide to disperse the NHL entry-level draft, the 2025 draft is held in Los Angeles, with the team and its employees staying in their hometowns. There were many prospects at the draft, interviews were conducted, and there were more, but the atmosphere did lack some team.

Cost cuts were a big reason for initial dispersion, and Commissioner Gary Bettman has been speaking out because it was a team decision, not a league decision.

After the NHL entered the draft in 2025, many fans and even insiders hope that the draft will return to the past. It was brought up, with many complaints about the draft, but it has been reported in the past few days that there is another vote and that most people are spreading the draft picks.

Others reported very similar things, but Post Media’s Bruce Garrioch posted on X saying: “#Sens doesn’t support this. Michael Andlauer believes that the situation on the stage on the jersey is a big moment for the players. The cost of the draft is the reason for the approach.

Rossi & Wild hopes to close the deal

Athletic energy Michael Russo and Joe Smith recently made a mail bag and answered questions about Rossi. (By answering your questions from Marco Rossi and Kirill Kaprizov: Ask Russo and Smith, Part 1, Track and Field, July 8, 2025).

Russo answered questions about Rossi, noting that despite the trade dialogue, Wild wanted to return the top six but didn’t get what they wanted. Bill Guerin has been matching any potential offer list signed, but Russo calls it a panic strategy. He said if a team gave Rossi $7 million a season, he wasn’t sure the field would match it.

If he doesn’t sign a quote sheet to force the fielder, I think it could be a long field until training camp even goes beyond training. The division is still wide, and the two sides are not actively negotiating

Michael Russo, athletic ability

Rossi has a lot of talent, but players like Sam Bennett are the second-tier centers that wins by the Florida Panthers, Rossi is almost polar, and the NHL is a parody league.
