Pro’s 54-foot birdie putter ends up traveling 65 yards

For recreational athletes and professionals, it is easy to misunderstand the speed of green. However, things get more difficult when you add wind and slope.
DP World Tour player Connor Syme probably knows this more than most people. On Friday, in a shocking example of a shocking putter, Sami’s birdie attempt ended up turning into a nightmare.
In the second round of the Scottish Championships at the Trump International Golf Connection, the storms of scoring were particularly challenging. On the 1st hole of the par 5, Syme hit his third shot, hitting the back edge of the green, facing a 54-foot downhill, downwind birdie putt.
Syme’s putter passed through the hole at speed and continued on. Then go. As the ball slowly heads toward the edge of the green front, it grabs another slope and warps forward, eventually resting on the fairway 47 yards from the hole.
“Oh my goodness!” said the broadcaster. “It’s incredible, I just saw it there.”
“Go back to the tee in a minute,” another quipped.
Another answered: “That was a very silent walk.”
The initial putter of Syme is very difficult and requires enough speed to drive upwards and then back into the hole. The green outline and strong wind gusts caused Sim’s unfortunate situation.
“Some of the remaining shots you have are very tough,” the broadcaster said.
Syme’s Birdie Putt was 65 yards away from his starting point. He hit the fifth shot on the green, but faced a long lag in bogey. He ended up making three bogeys. After the turn, he discussed his difficulties in the first hole.
“My third shot – I don’t actually think I shot that bad shot, just shot a little bit and ended up falling behind the green,” he said. “Obviously, you can see from the conditions, it’s such a gust of wind, and I’m just the wrong side of the hole. There’s a little too much pace on the slope and nothing can stop it. On the slope, it’s.”
Syme missed three shots after releasing a 72-79 (+7).
“It’s not that you want to start a new day,” Syme said. “Sometimes it’s golf.”
