Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet: New York Rangers rookie Brennan Othmann did not make the team out of training camp and was sent back to the AHL. We have been in talks with other teams since he was sent off. Rangers do have a lot of wingers, maybe it’s time to start over.
Alex Ovechkin still doesn’t know if he wants to play next season
TSN: The Washington Capitals and Alex Ovechkin likely know what to expect after this season, the final season of Ovie’s contract, according to Pierre LeBrun, but after speaking with Capitals insiders, that’s not the case.

“They did emphasize that Ovechkin is not sure yet and that he wants to play this season and see how his body feels and see how the team is and then make a decision at some point.
The captains themselves had no idea where this was going. Obviously, if he wanted to come back for another year, they would sign him with open arms.
There’s some mystery surrounding all this because the Capitals sent out an email to season ticket holders last season that read, “Come enjoy Alex Ovechkin’s last season.” The email was quickly brought back and the team issued a statement saying “that was not the case and we were not aware”.

TSN: Carter Hart, the Vegas Golden Knights’ PTO, is expected to sign an NHL contract by Dec. 1, the earliest he would be eligible to play, according to Chris Johnston. Since he hasn’t competed in almost two years, there’s been a lot of discussion about what his comeback would look like.
