A long-term contract for a 21-year-old is slightly different than a long-term contract for someone over 21

Irfaan Ghaffar: “There’s a report out of Utah that suggests that, you know, there may be a contract with Logan Cooley and the Utah Mammoths that has been rejected. I was just wondering your reaction to that or to clear up any air that might have been there.

NHL Rumors: Dylan Holloway, Flip Broberg and Mike Matheson

And, you know, from what I understand, you know, Utah right now, we see what they do with the practice facility, look at what they do with the on-field experience. You know, it’s becoming a place where people want to play and hockey is growing in this community.

Bartlett: “Yeah, Utah is definitely going to be a destination for hockey players. As I talked about before, the management team, the ownership team, the new team have done their best to try to build a winner there. So they’re still going to go.

Yeah, specifically Logan Cooley, you know, won’t comment on specific offers or anything. I don’t know, it certainly didn’t come from us. I don’t think it comes from the team, from the team. There are a lot of things you can just clean out of X, so this might be one of them.

But, you know, we had the conversation the same way. I think for a 21-year-old, when you talk about terminology, it’s a little different, right? Here’s the thing, at 21 years old, he still has one year left on his contract, so there’s no sense of urgency or rush yet. Eight years.

NHL Rumors: Could Pete DeBoer find his way to Buffalo

Nine years ago, he was only twelve years old, right? Like, oh, why don’t you make decisions for nine, like 50% of the time in my life, right? Long-term contracts are not unique to Utah for anyone. This isn’t specific to Logan Cooley. This is specific to each individual. You know, it’s a big decision. There’s so much involved, especially with a year left, there’s zero rush in these things.

But, you know, I think there’s a couple of people who have the right sign in this cycle, and then everyone thinks, ‘Okay, who’s next? Who is in this class? Where is it going? Everyone’s situation is different, so you don’t have to sign 11 months before the contract is completed. So, um, but the negotiations with Utah are going well.
