NHL Rumors: Jack Eichel and Rasmus Andersson

Jack Eichel

Dan Rosen of NHL.com: Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel enters the final year of his eight-year, $80 million contract. Both sides hope that the expansion can be resolved. Eichel on Wednesday.

“For me, it’s like the usual thing. When you focus on the right things, take care of yourself in things like this. I know it’s going to get out of it.

The 28-year-old Eichel scored a career-high 94 points in 77 games last season with 28 goals and 66 assists.

NHL Rumors: Anders Lee, Jack Hughes and Quinn Hughes

The long-term expansion of Rasmus Andersson may not make sense. They didn’t close any doors

Daniel Austin of Calgary Suns: It seems possible to trade before UFA defender Rasmus Andersson before trade deadlines in March.

Andersson said offseason speculation he would only sign a long-term extension with the Vegas Golden Knights to “fake information out”, which “is far from the facts.”

After a tough season, he was -38, Andersson didn’t have much leverage and didn’t get the best contract position. He doesn’t think this year’s situation will be distracting.

“I think distractions are from the outside rather than the inside, right?” Anderson said. “I’m not the first player in history to have a year left, and maybe I’m not the last either. That’s it. I’m here, getting ready for the game, and I’m very excited about this season.”

When Calgary’s Flames were used with Zayne Parekh, Hunter Brzustewicz and Henry Mews, the long-term extension of Calgary’s Flames didn’t make much sense, but GM Craig Conroy didn’t close any doors.

NHL Rumor: What is the future of Nick Robertson, a Toronto Maple Leaf?

“We’re not going to close the door on anything,” Conroy said. “We need Rasmus to come in and be the player we think we are. He looks like he’s in good shape, he’s ready, he’s already motivated and he wants to win one thing.”
