NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers and Detroit Red Wings

Edmonton Oilers and Evan Bouchard are talking about four-year contract

Zach Laing of Oilers Country: Elliotte Friedman in his 32 Thoughts: Podcast, he says the Edmonton Oilers are signing a four-year contract.

“There seems to be a lot of confidence on the weekend and they will solve this problem. I wonder if it will be about four times the $9.5 million – that’s just the number thrown away here. We’ll see, but it seems to be very confident that it will be eliminated.”

Only four years of deal bring the cap to $10 million.

Free agent signatures: Knife, Fabbro, Giroux, Khusnutdinov, Callahan, Husso and Bahl

Detroit Red Wings is one of many teams to add

Max Burtman: Detroit Red Wings have been talking to the Anaheim Ducks about goalkeeper John Gibson. The timing didn’t work because Gibson had been dealing with the injury.

Red Wings have contracts next year with Gibson and Cam Talbot and are interested in bringing Alex Lyon back. General Motors Steve Yzerman said Sebastian Cossa needs more AHL time.

Izelman hopes to re-sign Patrick Kane by July 1.

The red wings are looking for upgrades to the blue line and adding a winger like many teams do, which is not an easy task.

“When I talk to the team now, everyone wants – the team I’m talking to – they want players,” Yezelman said. “Like we want players. What do we have to offer? Like, I don’t want to trade our core players. You trade, anyway, a young center person for a young center person – I want to add our team to our team and use our future assets for that, and now, the team wants to add players to their team and we’re going to try to do the same thing (we try to do the same thing).

NHL Rumors: Marchand, McBain, Perry, Pietrangelo, Flyers and The Lightning

The team now turns their attention to free agents and the trade can happen.

Will New York Rangers guard K’andre Miller be right for the Red Wings?
