The avalanche may continue to look for traded defenseman Sam Girard. AVS brought Ryan Lindgren before the trade deadline, who was used for the second pairing. They couldn’t re-sign him, and the opposite of adding Brent Burns.
Girard’s role has declined over the years, and they may not want to pay $5 million for those who see a decrease in meeting minutes. AVS traded Charlie Coyle in the offseason because they didn’t like the idea of paying the money to people in the third-tier center.
