NHL Rumors: Carey Price and Mitch Marner

San Jose Sharks are one of the teams associated with Carey Price, but they are almost under contract restrictions
Marco d’Amico: Carey Price’s contract should move in the next few weeks, with potential destinations including the San Jose Sharks, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Pittsburgh Penguins, the source said. Move him to open the option that may make another transaction.
Marco d’Amico: (On the weekend) “The record is the most smoke near San Jose. We will see where it goes in the next few days.”
Max Miller of Shark Hockey Digest:RG Media’s Marco D’Amico reported that Montreal Canadaens wanted to avoid using LTIR to move Carey Price’s contract. The price received a $5.5 million bonus in September, so he only carried $20 million, as well as his $10.5 million cap.
NHL Rumor: Montreal Canadians and Edmonton Oilers
The Shark does have blocking room to add him, but adding him will put them in 50 contracts. Sam Dickenson and Leo Sahlin Wallenius’ contract can glide if they don’t form a team. Michael Misa has not signed an ELC contract for the 2025 first round draft pick. He can slide to when signing, if sent back to junior high school.
Sharks can send contracts to Canadians, or they can make a separate move to give them greater roster/contract flexibility.
Mitch Marner’s agent wants him to go to free agent
David Alter of Hockey News: Mitch Marner’s agent Darren Ferris wants Marner to head to free agency on July 1, but Marner doesn’t want to do that.
“He heard information about Las Vegas directly from other players and how they treated the players and their families. Once he knew, his mind made up for it at the end of the season,” Fries explained. “Froys, from my perspective as an agent, I would rather go through the whole process, sit down with multiple teams and explore all the options.
NHL Rumor: Mason McTavish and the hypothetical Pittsburgh Penguin Deal
But for him it was obvious that he didn’t want to go through that “dog and pony show” or go to free agents when he already knew where he wanted to go. The safety of his family is most important in the right environment. My job then was just to support his decision and help him get there. Ultimately, his focus is entirely on things in the future, and he thinks that Las Vegas is the right place for him. His energy is to help that team win. ”
