NHL Rumors: Anaheim Ducks won’t be forced to trade Pavel Mintyukov

Anaheim Ducks won’t be pushed into any trouble with Pavel Mintyukov

sports network: Elliott Friedman on an episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast – Struggling Edmonton Oilers about Pavel Mintyukov’s misadventures in Anaheim.

Friedman: “Mintyukov, same trade. Now I’m going to say this. I had a few people who didn’t like it coming out, and Anaheim was doing really well. The trade with Lambert was pretty much the same, but because I was the one who reported Mintyukov, I had some resistance to it. Like, Anaheim was going really well, and now was not the time to do it. I was like, OK, fair. I totally understand it, but it’s there.

NHL Rumors: Brad Lambert cleared by Winnipeg Jets to find trade partner

And, you know, so I just wanted to mention that. You know, Mintyukov is the 10th overall pick in 2022. He is a very talented young man. He quickly assembled the team. But look now, he’s been defeated.

Like Jackson Lacomb is now a $9 million defenseman. He didn’t play before him. (Olen) Zellweger did that, and Zellweger has been a great partner with (Jacob) Trouba. “Trouba” is one of the best stories of the early season, and Zellweger plays a very important role in it. Ian Moore is the guy who’s beating Mintyukov right now and he’s playing really well for them. The other night, in his second game without Mintyukov, he scored the winning goal.

So they’ve got the win now, but I think that’s the reality that we’re facing in the NHL right now, kids, they want to play faster. They don’t have a lot of patience, and maybe they had or were forced to have patience with the NHL.

Like I saw with (Pavel) Mintyukov. Mintyukov is a young defenseman who can move the puck. There will definitely be an interest in him.

In Anaheim, I don’t know what to do because Verbeek, the more he gets pushed, the more support he gets. So, number one, I think he’s going to say, ‘Hey, we’re going to do it, I’m going to do it in my time. ‘

You know, I would say the same. They have a lot of young players who are very good right now, and that’s a credit to them. They did a really good job, but at different times, some of these players had issues with ice time. He always said, I’m not going to give you an easy way out. Like you’re going to earn ice time. This is his philosophy: there are no shortcuts, just hard work.

NHL Rumors: Montreal Canadiens, Alexander Texil and Arena Milan

Now, maybe things are different. I have no idea. We’ll see in the future, but I do know he won’t be forced to do anything. That’s for sure.
