Hunter Greene plans to return to Reds rotation on Wednesday

After more than two months on the injury list, Hunter GreenThe return date is now set to red. Manager Terry Francona told reporters (including Pat Brennan of the Cincinnati Inquirer) that Greene was the starter of Wednesday’s game against the Phillies.
Greene, who won the Reds Ace of the All-Star season in 2024, took off the game through his first 11 games and 59 2/3 innings by posting a 2.72 ERA, a strikeout rate of 30.8% and a 5.9% walk rate. A right groin strain sent Green to Illinois, and he returned in seemingly decent form at a minimum of 15 days in May, but his other right groin strain kept the right handed down differently since last started on June 3.
It seemed Green was close to paying off in early July, and then he experienced more groin soreness, which pulled things back and delayed the start of his minor league rehabilitation mission until after the All-Star break. Green made four pitches in the minor’s upgrade job, and one-third of his three-part appearances appeared on Friday when he threw 79 innings with Triple-A Louisville in three innings. Franconer said Green is “Probably not yetAs far as the angle of dropping 100 goals in a game is concerned, but the fact that he kept pace on Friday is the Reds exploring the final signal needed to activate him from the IL.
Needless to say, getting Green back spinning was a huge help in Cincinnati’s playoff hopes. The Reds defeated the Buccaneers 14-8 and moved the club’s 1.5 games back to the final NL wildcard slot today, the Mets who were caught in a seven-game losing streak. Although the collapse in New York opened the door for the Reds, Cincinnati’s previous week was tough, about to play against two Red Hot Division champions in the Phillies and Brewers.
Chase Burns It was scheduled to start on Wednesday, but Francona said the Reds have “A lot of things to be doneHow to change the rotation when Green is back to the current rotation. Burn or Nick Martinez Will be moved to the bullpen duties, both pitchers can eventually serve as relief workers Nick Lodolo Similarly, he was brought to the 15-day blister problem in Illinois last week. This will make the Reds expected to spin, Lodolo Andrew Yape,,,,, Brady Singerand deadline pickup Zack Littell Once everyone is healthy and using too much starting depth to strengthen the pen is a good luxury for the team.
