Jimmy Murphy of RG.org: The team is calling New Jersey Devils related defensive player Dougie Hamilton because his NMC has switched to 10 teams’ no trade terms.
“I heard Leaf look at him. They are looking for a variety of options for the Blue Line, many of whom have offensive capabilities. That’s their strength, so there is currently a common thread with their business goals, and Hamilton fits the bill.”
Sources say the Toronto Maple Leafs aren’t the only team looking to add some offense to the blue line.
“Stars, red wings and mammoths have also been working to get a right-shooter that can enhance their offense and improve their power play, so they make a lot of sense.”

Sources added that there are many teams that can take over the $9 million player (three years left), and the Devil did not buy him or rush to trade with Jonathan Kovacevic for a few months.
Hamilton also received a $10.55 million signing bonus from the Devil on July 1.
