NHL Rumor: Kirill Kaprizov contract is underway. Is he looking for a 20% hat?

Kirill Kaprizov might think of nearly 20% of hats
Marco D’Amico of RG Media: Reports this week were reported that Kirill Kaprizov rejected an eight-year contract offer and hit a $16 million hat, while Minnesota Wild asked Kaprizov to get a trade list.
Kaprizov is looking for nearly 20% of the salary cap, which is $18 to $19 million on an eight-year contract, a source said. Sources pointed out that some believe that the salary cap could reach $170 million over the next nine years, which could make long-term deals less attractive to top players.
Another source said Kaprizov was waiting to see how Connor McDavid reset the market, adding that he tied his hands when wild owner Craig Leipold said Kaprizov would be the highest paid player at LLEAGUE.
A source close to the wild said there was no in the wild and would not ask Kaprizov to get a list of teams he would accept the deal.
It’s not an easy negotiation after rejecting $16 million a year and possibly hoping to get 20% of the cap. The contract may be an expectation for star players.
Minnesota Wild GM says negotiations with Kirill Kaprizov
Joe Smith and Michael Russo: Minnesota Wild General Manager Kill Kaprizov rejected the offer for the field contract.
“We are still having ongoing negotiations. We love Kirill. We want to keep him here. I have a good relationship with his agent and we are still talking. We have no panic or anything. It’s just part of the negotiations.
“My job as general manager is to protect my players, and I don’t want these things to be in the eyes of the public. That’s how we want to keep it, so I won’t comment on it. But I’ll say that: We definitely want to leave Kirill in Minnesota.”
Kaprizov has an unmoving clause, and if it reaches a point where they think he will not resign at all, they have to ask if/where is he considering the deal. There can no longer be Marian Gaborik’s situation in the wild, where he refused the offer, was injured and remained in free agency. There is still a lot of time to complete the transaction, but speculation will continue.
Sources show no sign that he is looking for a short-term deal.
The longer it drags on, the more you wonder if he can go to free agent next summer to see who will throw more money at him on a seven-year contract. Will the New York Rangers, the Carolina Hurricanes, the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Chicago Blackhawks be one of the interested teams?
