NHL Rumor: Jack Roslovic rejected two- and three-year offer?

Back on July 1, Jack Roslovic rejected a two-year and three-year contract. He was still looking for a deal at the start of the camp

Chris Johnston performs: Chris Johnston vs. UFA forward Jack Roslovic. He rejected two- and three-year offers on July 1 and now finds himself having a hard time finding a two-year contract. Which teams might be interested in giving him a “prove it” deal?

Julian Mackenzie: “Well, there’s also a signature issue, it’s a UFA and not an RFA. We recorded this podcast on Monday, September 22, and Jack Roslovic still hasn’t signed. What’s given?

Johnson: “Yes. I mean, it’s a cautionary story, I’ll say. And, when I finished heading to the free agent committee on July 1, Julian, I don’t actually remember where I owned him, but I certainly got him into the top 50.

NHL Rumor: Toronto Maple Leaf and Anthony Stolarz continue to work on expansion

I think it’s about 20 days. Just like him, you know, very high. I mean, Jack Roslovic is a player and you can play the central position. I know hurricanes like him, and even last year there was him, but just felt they couldn’t pay what he needed to pay. Then, low, looking at us here, camps around the league are in progress, and he hasn’t signed anywhere.

I look back on the first day of Freedom Agent, and this is the Musical Chair. Like me, my understanding is that he has two- and three-year offers, $35 to $3.75 million. Obviously, you know that these quotes were not accepted. You hope something better will come. But July 1 will change from July 4 to July 10. You go into August and then Jack Roslovic gets a lower offer.

It’s really just because I believe the money is spent on other players. Those, those, those quotes offer him at the start of a free agent, because of players like Andrew Mangiapane’s logo, or, you know, other people in other contract scopes I’m going to mention. Then, the kind of offer you can get in August looks a bit bad. I think it’s about two years and two years, and two and a half years are where he is.

Then you go into September, and even two-year deals are hard to come by. So, you know, it’s a struggle for this player. You know, he has to change the agent, or he chooses to choose, and change the agent throughout the summer too. And you know, I, I don’t know who is wrong here to say that. I’m not saying he made a mistake, but it’s a cautionary tale, which is why so many players sign up on July 1 or the second time. Because after those days, generally it became quiet, and generally, money dropped again.

NHL Rumor: Is there any trade activity early in the season?

You know, there are some outliers. I remember a few years ago Nazem Kadri got a lot of meaning in his Calgary, like he was in the market for weeks. But overall, the player allocated more money to the agent the first two days, or you were cooking it. It’s just that it’s the function of the hat I guess. This is a function, and that’s how everyone gets used to doing business. It was a scramble when free agents started.

So I think he’s just a player who fell in the crack and got squeezed and then all of a sudden, you kind of chase it. So, you know, we’ll see if he’s going to get a multi-year contract. I think he’ll like some safety, but he might end up finding himself in some position. And, I think, when he signs anywhere in the season here, he will definitely leave some total dollars on the table.

Then he has to try running back, big season, and be kinder to him next summer. You actually look at it, like, hey, that’s in his favor. But now, it’s a tough summer for Jack Roslovic.

You can only imagine that you might feel stressed, especially him, like we are talking about a proven NHL player. Now, you know, he hasn’t missed his salary. Players are only paid in the regular season. So you know, he hasn’t actually lost anything yet. But you know, I think he lost the ability to sign in the next city, moved there comfortably, settled down, and started camp with his new teammates. Habit, you know, this will not be the way you attract somewhere when you land.

NHL Rumors: Hart, Flame, Oiler and Jets

And, you know, I just think it’s a matter of time before he signs somewhere. But, you know, the quote is a drop in the size of the sliding for him. And, unfortunately, you know if it’s fair, I think he’s going to have to prove himself again to get the kind of contract he was looking for in the first place.

Julian McKenzie: “I wonder what team would be willing to prove the deal to him? Like me, I would automatically think of the Ottawa Senators and think of what they might want to do with their top six. I don’t know that’s someone who can fit there. Do they have the salary cap space to make money?

Could this be the leaves may or should be of interest? I wonder what teams this might show.

Well, I mean, I’ll look at the need for a team that needs a center, at least the possibility. Now, he doesn’t have to solve the long term. Like, I’m not sure you’re second on a good team.

You know. So it’s clear that Montreal is a team that’s talking about finding a center. They are looking for the center of Vancouver. You know, I think these teams are already in Roslovic in every way. I don’t know if he ended up landing in such a place.

NHL Rumor: Urgent should be done there Luke Hughes

I don’t think there are not so many leaves right now because, just because, if anything, they have too many forwards in the camp, and they might have faced a plan sometime before, you know, going into the season, you know, forwards or both moving somewhere. I mean, this may just be through the waiver. May be sent to the American Hockey League. But, you know, I’m not necessarily in the addition position at this moment.

But, you know, another factor to consider is that injury may require some decisions. You know, something might happen today in practice or in preseason played tonight, which changes the perception of how the team treats this. If you’re in a camp in Roslovic, that’s probably what you’re relying on.

You know it’s because of his position where he’s basically performing, and few teams feel good about their depth in the center, right? I mean, even a good team is always looking for another third liner in that position. That is often the trade deadline. You know, the kind of player who gets caught is a great team that wants to add a little depth to their blue line or third line center or right shot.

So, you know, I certainly think he fits the needs of these teams. However, I don’t think the price point at the end of his equation will be the same as the price he’s available on July 1 unless there’s something very strange. But, you know, summer is tough for him, and you know, we’ll see him at the end. ”
