The conversation in the world of hockey was Connor McDavid, and that was right. But McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers knew if this was a five-minute conversation when the Oilers decided to sit down and negotiate a delay. Both Oiler and McDavid know what the number is, but the word can be tricky. While the NHL could think of McDavid as a blank check guy, Minnesota Outdoor has its own blank check guy in Kirill Kaprizov.

Negotiations may be a little longer than people think. Although wild boss Craig Leipold did talk to athletic Joe Smith and said, “I just feel like we’re not very far away,” Lepold said. “I kind of think we’re there.” What does that actually mean? Do they have transaction parameters? You think so is a fan of the Minnesota wilderness, but they still have a long way to go.
While some might think that the NHLPA will impact McDavid’s reset market, Caprizov may be that guy because he is the best player in the history of the series. He is bigger than Zach Parise, Ryan Suter, Marian Gaborik, etc. This guy changed the game. If Kirill Kaprizov was not injured last season, he would win the HART trophy and become the most valuable player in the NHL.
Kaprizov’s injury changed the outdoor season as others hang out in the wild. Even so, some people don’t think he is a blank checker in the NHL. During a discussion on TSN broadcast in Toronto last week, whether the question was raised during the negotiations for Kirill Kaprizov’s contract, if he and other players who qualify for a contract extension are waiting for McDavid to sign, and Kaprizov’s deal could put everyone out of the water.

Pierre Lebrun: “Yes, he did say that, I mean, it’s funny. I mean, it shows how desperate I think they’re going to stay because it’s not easy to always lure players to Minnesota. And, more, he’s an exciting player, he’s an exciting player, but he doesn’t know I’m a blank guy. It’s some blank inspectors, there’s only a few in the league.
Host: “Maybe he’s not a blank inspector, but for Minnesota, he has to be that.”

The last part is absolutely correct. With his absence last year, the wild season in turn, they just made it to the playoffs late in the season, with Kaprizov being a blank inspector. Now, negotiations 101 points out that you won’t give up on the plan, but Bill Guerin and owner Craig Leipold make it clear that they’ll give him whatever he wants.
Whether it’s $16 million or $17 million, that remains to be seen. But he will have more deals with Leon Draisaitl for $14 million per season. The question will be, what is the length of the contract for Minnesota Kirill Kaprizov?
