AVS Martin Necas and Jack Drury may not be in a hurry to sign up for extensions
Evan Laval of the Denver Gazette: (Mail bag) Defensive player Erik Johnson signed a PTO with the Colorado Avalanche. If he was left-handed, he might have obtained a PTO from AVS. If AVS decides to trade Sam Malinski as a striker or other type of defensive player, it’s no slightest to bring Johnson back.
Don’t understand why Martin Necas, Kyle Connor or Adrian Kempe signs the extension before signing Kirill Kaprizov. He will set up a winger market. Everyone may be waiting to see what happened to Caprizov and Connor McDavid, but it would be interesting to see who took the first step if those two didn’t.
Jack Drury, 25, enters the final year of his contract. If Drury shows that he can handle the third-tier center position, he can earn a deferral, which will eliminate the need for AVS to get one in the transaction deadline.

Trade talk is being picked up, but more buyers than sellers
James Murphy of RG Media: Earlier this week, an NHL executive said that during the General Motors meeting, the conversation surfaced in the league, adding: “There are more buyers and sellers on both buyers and sellers.”
Mason McTavish is the biggest name there, and trade rumors are in contact with the RFA center of the Anaheim Ducks. Another NHL executive said there was no sign that the Duck and McTavish were in a stalemate.
“He hasn’t sent a bat signal yet, it’s time to talk about trade and get the best offer,” the executive said of Verbeek. “The pressure point for the camp is coming, but now they’re not here yet, I’m not sure if they’ll get there.”
There are a lot of reports that the team is looking for 2C, but one source added that there are actually how many available. Marco Rossi re-signed because his market may not be that big.
