NHL injuries: Bruins, Hurricanes, Oilers, Panthers, Wild, Preds, Devils, Senators, Leafs and more

Jim McBride: Boston Bruins guard Charlie McAvoy will be out indefinitely after undergoing “facial surgery,” according to coach Marco Sturm.

Dan Arritt: Boston Bruins forward Jeffrey Ware left the game after getting into a fight with Radko Gudas during the third quarter of last night’s game. His head knocked off the ice.

National Hockey League: Buffalo Sabers forward Jason Zucker will return to the lineup on Friday. He missed eight games due to illness. Forward Zach Benson (lower body) is on the ice for the morning skate and should be back soon.

Walter Raff: Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jalen Chatfield was on the bench yesterday as he worked his way out of the concussion protocol. Coach Rod Brind’Amour hopes he can play at some point during the road trip.

Robert Tiffin: Dallas Stars head coach Glenn Gruzan said guard Ilya Lyubushkin will not travel with the team to Canada, but forward Matt Duchene will. Many players performed maintenance yesterday.

bob stover: Edmonton Oilers head coach Chris Knoblauch said forwards Noah Philp and Curtis Lazar will miss the remainder of the road with upper-body injuries.

Katie Engelson: Florida Panthers coach Paul Morris said forward Etu Lostarinen will miss week-to-week after being burned in a barbecue incident. Forward Cole Schwindt suffered a broken arm and required surgery.

David Dwork: Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk is returning to skating and has heard he could return sometime next month.

Joe Smith: Minnesota Wild defensive lineman Zach Bogosian’s day-to-day routine. Forwards Ryan Hartman and Marco Rossi did not travel with the team for the two away games. Forward Nico Sturm skated again yesterday.

National Hockey League: Wild forward Vladimir Tarasenko missed last night’s game with a lower-body injury. Hartman was placed on IR.

Brooks Bratton: Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi (IR) was on the ice yesterday.

  • Brooks Bratton: There is no word yet on when Josi will return to the lineup.

Amanda Stein: New Jersey Devils’ Dougie Hamilton didn’t play yesterday, but that’s part of his plan to return to the game. Goaltender Jacob Markstrom will be the backup tonight.

  • Sam Kasan: Markstrom tweaked something late in Tuesday’s game and is being monitored.

National Hockey League: The New York Islanders placed guard Alexander Romanov on IR with an upper-body injury.

TSN: Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk said on his podcast that he hopes to return around Thanksgiving.

“I have a doctor’s appointment in the next few days and I’m excited to hear what he said to me,” Tkachuk said on the podcast, but the date of the recording was not yet known. “Hopefully everything goes well and I can go out and fight and compete.

“Hopefully we’ll be back around Thanksgiving and we’ll be ready to rock.”

National Hockey League: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Scott Laughton could return to the lineup tonight. He has missed the past five games with an upper-body injury. Forwards Auston Matthews (lower body), Matthew Nurse (lower body) and Nicolas Roy (upper body) will not be in tonight’s lineup.

Harvey Valentine: Washington Capitals forward Nick Dowd missed last night’s game with an upper-body injury.
