New York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames

Could the New York Islanders trade Filip Hronek?

Stephen Rosner of The Hockey News: With Alexander Romanov injured, the Islanders may turn to familiar trade partners the Vancouver Canucks and try to trade Filip Hronek, Rosner writes.

NHL Rumors: Which veterans could the Vancouver Canucks actually move?

The Canucks are looking to make changes to their roster and are listening to all veterans, not just UFAs, which could mean Hronek is in play. Hronek, however, holds a no-move clause and has a say in where he wants to go. The Canucks have no plans to trade him or Quinn Hughes right now, but, as Rosner wrote, Vancouver will have to consider it if the right team comes calling.

The biggest issue is the cost of players for the Islanders. We know the Canucks acquired him from Detroit for the Islanders’ 2023 first-round pick and Vancouver’s 2023 second-round pick. So, if Hronek wanted to go to the island, could pieces like the first, the third and the other be done?

What happens with Rasmus Andersen in Calgary?

Eric Francis of Sportsnet: With the Calgary Flames off to a slow start in the standings, attention is turning to what will happen with Rasmus Andersson, Francis writes. He’s in control when it comes to his future.

NHL News: Calgary Flames extend Craig Conroy and management team

The pending unrestricted free agent knows whether he should stay in Calgary long-term or be traded depends on fate, and as Anderson said, “If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.” Anderson hears insider voices but is keeping an open mind. All options are on the table, including re-signing in Calgary.

Anderson continued to handle contract discussions like a true professional, focusing on hockey and working toward making the Swedish Olympic team. He was just named the NHL’s No. 1 Star of the Week. Therefore, all attention will be on his performance on the ice. However, as the NHL trade deadline approaches, the calls will continue as teams need his services.
