Newcastle plans to sign a new centre-back this summer, with their main goal being Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace. They desperately tried to sign England International last summer, but they eventually left the negotiating table after refusing four bids.

The Champions League finals are still available for last minute tickets!

But they will be back this summer and by confirming that they are the next season’s Champions League confirmation, there is more confidence that the deal can be reached. However, things may be the same as in 2024.

According to Geordie Boot Boys, Graeme Bailey has talked about this situation. He revealed that despite Newcastle’s lower position, Crystal Palace will be as difficult as Newcastle signing last summer.

“Newcastle’s interest in Guehi remains-it never faded. Eddie Howe wanted him last summer, and now he wants him. Last year they couldn’t reach an agreement on the deal, and it won’t be much easier this summer- Palace head Steve Parish won’t let him get a bargaining fee.

“He’s calm – yes, he’s willing to leave, but he knows he’s also going to have a chance until his contract expires next summer – it can work that way.”

Guehi sees his Crystal Palace contract expires in 2026, which means he will have a year left in the summer transfer window. This shows that Newcastle is easier to sign him – especially at a much lower price, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. Next season, the 24-year-old stays in Europe with the FA Cup winner playing in Europe.
