New club opens at Royal Dornoch – Golf News

Royal Dornoch Golf Club has unveiled its new £13.9 million clubhouse, a landmark development designed to match the global reputation of its famous championship course.

The luxurious three-storey building overlooks the famous links course and replaces the clubhouse which had served the club for 116 years.

The project, approved two years ago, is one of the most significant investments in the club’s 148-year history and a significant statement of intent for Highland golf and tourism.

The clubhouse has panoramic views of the golf course and provides an inviting space for members, visitors and the wider community to gather for food, drink and conversation.

Club officials believe the environment will encourage people to stay longer and enjoy the atmosphere and scenery.

The building is also expected to play a key role in Dornoch’s social life throughout the year.

Will officially open in spring 2026

Local organizations such as the Rotary Club, Bridge Club and Speakers Club will use the facilities, enhancing the clubhouse’s role as a community center and golf destination.

The final stages of construction of the clubhouse involved approximately 100 workers, including a number of local subcontractors.

The project represents one of the largest private sector investments in the region in recent years, underscoring confidence in Dornoch’s future.

Designed by Keppie Design and built by Inverness-based contractor Morrison Construction, the clubhouse exceeded expectations in both size and finish.

Club management said this marks a new chapter for Royal Dornoch, complementing its world-famous championship course and supporting future ambitions to further develop the town’s golf facilities.

The official opening is expected to take place in the spring, but the clubhouse is already being hailed as a fitting new home for one of Scotland’s most iconic golf clubs.
