NBC announces Michael Jordan as a special contributor to NBA coverage – Basketball insider

Michael Jordan will join NBA coverage special contributor to NBC starting the 2025-26 season.

After nearly 22 years in the wilderness, NBC will be the home of national NBA broadcasts next season. It was home to the 1991-2002 NBA finals, broadcasting six championship wins between Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. ABC/ESPN was granted rights in 2003.

Jordan is widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time. He was a 14th All-Star and 11th All-NBAER, won 9 all-defensive team trials and won 10 scoring championships. He won five regular season MVP awards and one defensive player of the year.

“I'm very happy to see the NBA return to NBC,” Jordan said in a statement. “The NBA on NBC is a meaningful part of my career and I'm very happy to be a special contributor to the program. I look forward to seeing you all when NBC launches the NBA this October.”

The network will play up to 100 regular season games, All-Star games and select playoffs. These games will also be streamed on the Peacock. The NBA finals will remain on ABC.

NBC lands its biggest swing to date

Jordan, 62, has never been part of the national broadcast of the commentary role. While it's still unclear what his role will be, it's undoubtedly a massive acquisition.

Previously, NBC announced that Reggie Miller, Carmelo Anthony and Jamal Crawford are former players who will join the broadcast team. One can only hope that Jordan and Miller will have the chance to step onto some memorable memories of the Indiana Pacers and the Bulls.

Additionally, Mike Tirico and Noah Eagle were earlier identified as play-by-play announcers.

The NBA broadcast team is expected to announce more recruitment announcements in the coming months.

NBA broadcast coverage intensifies

NBC isn't the only network that attracts some well-known people.

Amazon Prime will also cover the NBA next season and announces Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash and Blake Griffin as analysts on their broadcast team. Taylor Rooks will operate as a host of panel discussions.

As part of the 11-year deal, Amazon Prime videos are expected to play games primarily on Friday and Saturday.

The streaming platform will also be home to the season tournament and will alternate with NBC to play the finals.
