NHL Rumors: New York Islanders and Minnesota Outdoor

Ilya Sorokin abandons trade rumors
Sergey Demidov of RG.org: Ilya Sorokin found his name in the Rumor Mill during the offseason and he quickly knocked them out.
“I’m not surprised by the rumors, it’s part of the business,” he said. “What surprised me though is that even if everyone knows I have a no-trade clause, people have to take them seriously. But overall – let them talk.”
Sorokin’s contract has more than many years of salary left to $8.25 million and has received full unmotivated clauses.
Dan Milstein: “Ilya Sorokin has a complete no trade clause and has never participated in part of any trade discussion – not at any time. It would be surprising, but we are here.

Minnesota Wild GM says any Marco Rossi quote is not a problem
Sarah McClellan of Star Forum: Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin said it was a program and there was no rush to get the extension of Kirill Kaprizov, as well as the new contract for RFA Marco Rossi.
Wild and Rossi’s camp has offered quotes for short- and long-term contracts, but no consensus has been reached. Rossi, who is qualified in the field, is eligible for a quotation form, but Guerin said it would match.
“We’re ready,” Jilin said. “We’re going to match, it’s not our problem. I think that when you’ve been successful in the past, maybe the team isn’t fully prepared for it. But yes, we’re ready for it. We’d rather have an agreement with Marco.”
There is about $10 million in hat space in the wild. Recent short-term RFA deals include Will Cuylle (Rangers) for two years, $3.9 million per person, and William Eklund (Shark) for $5.6 million. Recent long-term RFA deals include Logan Stankoven (Hurricane) for $6 million, while Matthew Knies (Maple Leafs) for six years, $7.75 million.
