NBA insiders believe Giannis Antetokounmpo won’t trade in the “short-term future”

Last season, the Bucks ranked fifth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 48-34. In his third straight playoffs, Milwaukee lost in the first round.
The Bucks’ two-time MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo, has been at the center of trade rumors during the offseason. Many predict he won’t play for Milwaukee in 2025-26. On Thursday, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that Antetokounmpo would not trade in the Bucks’ “short-term future.”

On Thursday’s ESPN, Brian Windhorst shared some knowledge about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s identity. Just last month, there were reports that the 30-year-old was interested in leaving the team. While there is no direct meeting between the Milwaukee star and the front desk, Winkhorst believes he will stay with the Bucks. Longtime NBA insiders say the rest of the league has reached the fact that Giannis Antetokounmpo is not leaving the team now.
He noted that Giannis would not trade in the Bucks’ “short-term future.” But, Winkhorst said he could not promise what could happen in August. In just four playoffs, Milwaukee won the NBA finals. Since then, the Bucks have been eliminated from the first round in just one time. This is an important offseason for the Bucks. They want to make antetokounmpo happy; otherwise, he may ask for future transactions.
The Nine-time All-Stars averaged 30 points, more than 11 rebounds and five assists for the third consecutive season. Antetokounmpo does everything he can to help his team win. He won third place in the MVP vote in 2024-25. For his seventh straight season, he finished the top five in the MVP voting at the end of this year. To stay in the East for contenders, the Bucks need to retain Giannis this offseason. If they lose him, the prospects of their franchise will change dramatically.
