EFL Cup second round result, Wolfs’ goal to drive West Ham

The Wolves scored twice in the last eight minutes to win the first win of the 2025/26 season and beat West Ham in the EFL Cup on the first night of the second round.

Brentford won consecutive victories, defeating Aston Villa on the highest flight on Saturday in the win at Bournemouth.

Leeds United and Sunderland played, and Cambridge United contributed a blow on both sides, defeating champions Charlton Athletic 3-1.

101GreatGoals.com has the latest results and scores for the second round of the 2025/26 EFL Cup, including details on when the third round draw will be played.

Wolves and West Ham: Host Relief

No West Ham fans need to remind their league season started with Sunderland’s 3-0 defeat, Chelsea beat home 5-1, and their problems continued after Rodrigo Gomes shot on the 43rd minute rebound to give the Wolves a lead in the Molineux.

Within 18 minutes of the restart, two titles turned the score line around, Tomas Soucek met with Kyle Walker-Peters’ cross, Lucas Paqueta pounced on Jarrod Bowen’s delivery.

With West Ham’s shutdown lowering the pressure on manager Graham Potter, Jorgen Strand Larsen was the subject of a £50m bid from Newcastle on Monday – hitting the box within 82 minutes and heading to Jackson Tchatchoua’s cross two minutes later.

Wolves lost 4-0 at Manchester City and 1-0 at the league’s Bournemouth.

Bournemouth vs. Brentford: Bees pass

Brentford scored four goals without a reply since his 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest on the Opening Day.

Unmarked Fabio Carvalho hit their opener in the 34th minute at Bournemouth, replacing Igor Thiago with his second goal in three games, defeating his second in three games and hitting his second in three games and hitting back in three games after 31 minutes.

Ajer’s late clearance kept Brentford’s clean sheets clean when Keith Andrews won his first cup tie 2-0.

EFL Cup Results: Leeds, Sunderland Shock

Leeds and Sunderland became the first Premier League clubs to exit the team from the lower division this season.

Karl Darlow’s second-half goal put the beleaguered champion host Sheffield against the Whites, who equalized the score through Jayden Bogle but beat 3-0 in a gunfight in Hillsborough where home fans protested the club owner.

Chelsea Leo Castledine’s volleyball league gained a ninth minute advantage at Stadium of Light, where another blues player, Marc Guiu, equalized Sunderland in Sunderland, with the Hounds winning 6-5 in the gunfight.

Burnley joined the league rivals for wholesale changes, winning the 91st minute championship through Oliver Sonne’s strike, winning 2-1 at home in the second-tier Derby County.

Is the EFL Cup champion eligible for Europe?

The EFL Cup winners earned a place in the additional stage of the UEFA League unless they qualify through another European tournament route.

Newcastle is an example of the 2024/25 action rules, but rather qualifies for the Champions League through their league positions.

This means their Conference League playoff position has entered the second highest ranking team, who have not qualified for European matches through their league position.

Will the EFL Cup bond join time, replay and punishment?

If they finish level after 90 minutes, the EFL Cup tie was directly given a free throw until the semifinals were played on both legs.

If the scoring line is level after the second round, then additional time, if necessary – use the penalty to separate the team.

The final is a one-time match at Wembley Stadium, with additional time and fines if needed.

Liverpool beat Chelsea 11-10 in the 2021/22 final and beat the same match after 2023/24 overtime by Virgil Van Dijk after 2023/24 overtime.

Newcastle won its first domestic trophy since 1955 by defeating Liverpool 2-1 in the 2024/25 final.
