Mikal Bridges has agreed to a four-year, $150 million contract with the New York Knicks. Agents Sam Goldfeder and Jordan Gertler of Excel Sports Management said Thursday. The deal includes player options for the 2029-30 season and a trade kicker.

By accepting a maximum of just below the maximum ($156 million), the bridge allowed the Knicks to add the flexibility of roster construction title to a critical window of debate.

Commitment to team success

Bridges’ decision reflects a commitment to the team’s goals for personal income. Together with Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and others, he played a key role in leading the Knicks to the first Eastern Conference Finals last season in 25 years.

The move marks the franchise’s belief in its current core. This also ensures continuity of the roster as New York eyes go deeper into the playoffs.

Iron Man’s Reliability

Last season, Bridges averaged 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while participating in all 82 regular season games. He is still an active Iron Man in the NBA and never missed a game in his career. In 2023-24, he was the only player in the league to total 3,000 minutes, with an average career-high 37.0 minutes per game.

His durability and two-way game make him one of the league’s most reliable and influential wings.

Knicks continues to build

With the bridge locked and the team’s core intact, New York appears ready to remain competitive at the Eastern Conference. The front desk highlighted internal growth and smart rosters moving on splash signatures, and that this expansion was consistent with the strategy.

Bridges’ willingness to discount slightly can lead to meaningful changes. While maintaining key players, the Knicks provide space for the Knicks.

As New York expects grow, ensuring the bridge sends a clear message: The Knicks are serious about victory, and they are doing it.
