Thunder Jaylin Williams reaches three years, extending $24 million

Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti announced on Sunday that the Oklahoma City Thunder has signed forward/center Jaylin Williams for a multi-year contract.
Jaylin Williams’ new deal averages $8 million annually
Williams will sign a new three-year, $24 million contract extension with the Thunder after rejecting his $2.1 million team option in the 2025-26 season, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Oklahoma City negotiated a new pay raise with Williams agent Marcus Monk and Excel Sports’ Sean Kennedy. His contract includes a $15.4 million guarantee and an average annual salary of $8 million per Spotrac.
Williams celebrated his 23rd birthday Sunday, which will receive about $7.4 million next season and $8 million in 2026-27. His deal also comes with a $8.59 million team option for 2027-28.
In three seasons in OKC, Williams averaged 5.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 15.7 minutes per game in 165 professional NBA regular season (46 games), while shooting 43% from the foul line, and 39% from three-point shooting percentage.
Williams released career-highest figures on 2024-25
Williams, who is 6-foot-8, was ranked 34th by the Thunder in the 2022 Arkansas Draft. After Chet Holmgren was excluded from the entire season with a foot injury, he scored 36 games in 49 games in the rookie 2022-23 season.
Williams averaged 5.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 47 games (9 games) in the 2024-25 season, with 16.7 minutes per game while scoring a career-best 43.9% floor and 39.9%.
Williams recorded three triple in his nine games last season, becoming the fifth Thunder player in team history, recording multiple triple in one season.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander can sign contracts with Thunder
The new crown MVP winners Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, centers Isaiah Hartenstein and Wing Lu Dort are all eligible to be unrestricted free agents in 2027. Meanwhile, Holmgren can be a restricted free agent in 2026.
Gilgeous-Alexander’s season is in the third season of five years, $179.3 million rookie Max Extension. His current deal runs through the 2026-27 season, which includes a 30% escalator clause that turns the guaranteed $172 million base into $207 million, or earning at least one of the three all-NBA team choices.
In February, NBA insider Marc Stein reported that the SGA will qualify for a four-year Super Marx extension this summer, which will “gave him the first $80 million salary in 2030-31 NBA history.”
Although SGA met Super Max standards last offseason, he was not eligible for signatures because he did not meet years of service standards, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks. Now, he is eligible to sign a four-year $293 million extension.
The 2025 NBA free agent period begins at 6 pm on June 30.
