Miami’s Tyler Herro is undergoing surgery and will miss the start of 2025-26

As the training camp approaches, the Miami Heat receives unfortunate news of injury. Starting shooting guard Tyler Herro has been dealing with foot/ankle injuries since mid-summer.
The Heat did their best to prepare for the 2025-26 season. However, Miami Heat insider Anthony Chiang reported that Tyler Herro will undergo surgery. Multiple sources confirmed that he will not be able to start in the next year. It was just a huge blow to the heat one month before their first game.

This ankle/foot impact has plagued Herro since mid-summer. Herro has received PRP and cortisone injections in recent weeks in an attempt to avoid surgery, but the discomfort has never been relieved and believes that surgery is needed to avoid more problems.

At the 2019 NBA Draft, the Heat picked Tyler Herro from Kentucky with the 13th pick. Herro has played 361 games and played 217 games in six seasons. He has been a full-time starter in Miami since the 2022-23 season. In 2024-24 for Herro, 77 games were played and started. Most importantly, he was selected as his first All-Star last season. He averaged 23.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.
Without Jimmy Butler Sicne 2018-19, the 2025-26 season would be Miami’s first full season. Tyler Herro is expected to play a huge role in the heat. The shooting guard, who was 25 years old, dealt with a foot injury. It has been haunting the 2021-22 sixth person since mid-summer. Herro has been reported to have received PRP and cortisone injections in recent weeks.

Team Doctors hope Herro’s pain will fade as the new season approaches. Unfortunately, this discomfort never went away and was thought to require foot/ankle surgery. It’s indeed a huge blow to the heat. Tyler Herro leads with scores and assists per game in 2024-25. Miami will start the 2025-26 season without Tyler Herro’s work.
Although Herro missed a year, the Heat will rely on veteran players such as Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins and Norman Powell. Adebayo is entering his ninth season with the Heat. He averaged only 20 points per game in his career. During the offseason, the Heat participated in a multi-team deal to acquire Norman Powell. Last season, he averaged averaging 21.8 points per game. Miami would love to see Powell’s work like this. How long can Miami survive without Tyler Herro?
