Metropolis designated Chris Devenski for distribution

The Metropolis announced a series of lineups today. Outfielder/designated batsman Starling Marte Recovered from the 10-day list of injuries. Infielder Jared Young Syracuse has been selected for the corresponding action. The club also activates the recent waiver Claime Rico Garcia And recalling right-handed Justin Garza. To open the positions of these two weapons, the club chose the right-handed Kevin Herget and designated as right-handed Chris Devenski Make allocations. In addition, left-handed Brandon WaddellReversed the optional mission, and he has been placed on the Major League 15-day injury list due to a right hip impact.

Devenski, 34, signed a minor league contract with the Mets during the offseason. He was selected for the major league roster in April. As a veteran with over five years of service to Major League Baseball, he could not choose him as a minor without his consent. The Mets have chosen him to go to Syracuse three times this year, so he probably agreed to the deals.

This time, he was not selected, but assigned as homework. The Metropolis didn’t need to open a 40-person position today, so it’s unclear why they did it. With the deadline approaching, they are expected to undergo bullpen upgrades. Maybe Metropolis or Devinsky realizes that their relationship may not be further apart. From Devenski’s perspective, if he was going to squeeze the depth chart, now maybe it’s a good time to open up to other clubs rather than accepting another club in Syracuse.

Whatever the reason, he is now in DFA Limbo and can last for a week. The waiver process takes 48 hours, so it may take the Mets five days to explore the trade interests. On his optional mission, Devinsky threw 11 1/3 innings for the Mets this year, earning three runs on seven hits, three walks and two hits, while also earning nine more hits. He also threw 25 innings, with an ERA of 4.32, strikeout rate of 17.2%, walking rate of 4% and 50.6% ground ball rate.

Devenski’s best season was the Astros about a decade ago. Recently, his results have been up and down. He has an encouraging performance in 2023, splitting between angels and rays. That year, he threw 42 1/3 innings with a 4.46 ERA, 24.3% strikeout rate and 6.4% walking rate. Rays re-signed him in 2024, but Devenski’s ERA last year accounted for 6.75 ERA. He was released in July and was trapped among minors for the rest of the year.
