Max Kranick undergoes surgery for Tommy John

Metropolitan Rescuer Max Kranick According to Laura Albanese on News Day, plans to undergo surgery for Tommy John. This will be his second Tommy John operation in the past 37 months.
It was a cruel blow for Krangnik, who finally became a solid major league arm after a long layoff in his first UCL program, which he performed in June 2022. Kranick, then the Pirates, almost missed the 2023 season.
The Mets seized Kranick’s immunity in January 2024 and left him with minors last season. He made his debut with them in 2025 (the first Major League Baseball job since 2022) and it was very effective. In 37 innings, he recorded 3.65 ERA. Kranick has a 16.9% strikeout rate well below average, but his 3.4% walk rate is the fifth highest of 347 major league pitchers, who have thrown at least 30 innings in 2025.
Given the timing of the program and the fact that it was his second Tommy John, Kranick could miss the entire 2026 season. At best, he will be a candidate to return in September next year. He was eligible for arbitration for the first time this winter, so the Mets refused to give him a chance to sign a contract. Leaving him throughout the offseason means dedicating him to the Krangnik 40s, as there is no 60-day injury list in the winter.
For the time being, Kranick will be on the 60-day injury list the next time the Mets open a 40-man lineup. He will continue to count to Major League Baseball service hours and pay for the rest of the season. If the Mets choose to keep him on the roster all winter, they can immediately place him on the 60-day injury list when the camp opens next spring. Can control Krangick in the 2028 season.
