Mavericks intend to draft Cooper Flagg and won't trade first pick

Sources told the press that Dallas Gov. Patrick Dumont believes that the opportunity to draft generational talents like Cooper Flagg is a “gift” and that the team will not weigh the number one in the upcoming NBA Draft. This means that the 18-year-old will wear the Mavericks jersey.
Now, the Texas organization can only hope that Flagg will eventually become the first choice for the draft, as he has been considered a leader since he decided to graduate from high school a year early to attend college at the age of 17.
“I don't know who we're going to pick up, but if we catch him, I think his resume is very strong,” said CEO Rick Welts. “Every time he gets stuck in a situation where everyone wants to know if he can succeed, he succeeds, and then some.”
The most amazing thing is the background of the occurrence of this lottery. Not only did the Mavericks come from the biggest deal in recent NBA history, as they sent Luka Doncic to Los Angeles on the February deadline, but the fact that they also made Cooper the first draft pick and dominate the league in the coming years.
Social media is now full of jokes about general manager Nico Harrison, which is why Welts thinks he has to address this narrative of “manipulating” the lottery. “I was the only person in this room and in the room 40 years ago,” he said, while working for the league office in his first NBA lottery in 1985.
“I won the NBA Draft 40 years ago by Patrick Ewing. I've been doing conspiracy theories since then.” Washington PostBen Golliver. “I'm very surreal in person. I'm very happy for the Mavericks fans.”
The CEO then added: “I was just surprised by the depth of emotion and connection between the fans and this team. What happened today is that I can't imagine a better day for Mavs fans. It's really special. I can't wait to get back to Dallas.”
