Matthew Stafford of Rams is expected to begin its first week despite back injury

The 2025 season will be Matthew Stafford’s 17th year in the NFL. This will be his fifth place in the Rams. In 2024, Stafford won NFC West after playing 16 games for the Rams.
In the offseason, Matthew Stafford missed almost the entire month of training camp due to a back injury. However, Stafford has been a formal participant in the practice since August 18. On Monday, NFL insider Adam Schefter announced that Matthew Stafford is expected to start for the Rams’ Week 1. They faced Houston Texans at home on September 7.

Senior QB Matthew Stafford missed this preseason time due to a heavy back disk. The 37-year-old is the key to the Rams’ success in 2025. If he misses time due to injury, Los Angeles will take the offense again. Head coach Sean McVay can’t afford it. That’s why the team asked Matthew Stafford to take the time to recover from back injuries.
Stafford has been a formal player in practice since August 18. On Monday, McVay told reporters that Stafford will be in practice for a full week until they play in their first game on September 7. A major setback is prohibited and hopes to meet Matthew Stafford in Week 1 in Los Angeles. During the offseason, Stafford received an epidural injection to relieve back pain.

Last season, senior QB played 16 of the Rams’ 17 games. He knew the team had won the division and he played in the final week of the regular season. Stafford won the game 10-6 in 16 games. He shot 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. That was his second highest score in his season with Sicne entering the Rams. In its first season with the team, Stafford threw 4,886 yards, 41 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He also won the Super Bowl that year.
Puka Nacua will become Matthew Stafford’s WR1 in 2025. However, the team did find a great replacement for Cooper Kupp. Davante Adams signed a two-year, $44 million contract with Los Angeles. We see Adams succeeding in 2024 with experienced QB Aaron Rodgers. Can Adams and Stafford quickly establish chemistry? The Ram’s hope has been seen. If Matthew Stafford misses time this season, the team’s reserve is Jimmy Garoppolo.
