Marlins put Xavier Edwards on 10-day injury list

Marlins announce shortstop Xavier Edwards Due to the left middle dorsal strain, it has been placed on the 10-day injury list (drawn back to May 15). Infielder Otto Lopez Will lead Edwards to the active roster, being restored to his IL after being out for two weeks due to an ankle sprain. Lopez and Javier Sanoja When Edwards is occupied, the numbers of shortstop duties are processed.
As the retrospective position shows, Edwards missed Miami’s last few games with a bad back. Manager Clayton McCullough said yesterday that the imaging was not structurally wrong and that Edwards will test things with some baseball activities, but apparently the infielder is not enough to resume action. It might be the team that decided to simply give Edwards 10 days to rest and recover instead of having him bring him back in any hasty way.
Edwards has been a highly respected prospect during his time with Padres and Rays’ farm system, but he didn’t join the Marlins in 2024 until he joined the Marlins in 2023. In 2024, he got good regular shortstop game time and got a response by hitting .328/.397/.423 on the 303 board and stealing 31 bases (31 bases) (355 bases) (all stolen on 335, but .263/.337/.292 this year’s 194 PA slash. The drop in slip percentage is eye-opening, but since Edwards was never a big power hitter, the average and lower OBP could be his game obstacle.
