The Mavericks are quickly searching for their next general manager, according to league sources. To the delight of Dallas fans, Nico Harrison was fired on Tuesday morning. Harrison was the general manager who traded Luka Doncic to the Lakers at the 2024-25 deadline. Owner Patrick Dumont tried to support the deal. Since then, Dumont has become more hands-on in the basketball operations of the team. This indicates that Nico Harrison is about to leave.
NBA insider Tim Bontemps reports that minority owner Mark Cuban is considering a pick to help the Mavericks. He wants Dennis Lindsay to rejoin management. Lindsay plays for Dallas in the 2023-24 season. The 56-year-old played a crucial role in helping Nico Harrison structure a deal to help Dallas reach the 2024 NBA Finals. Despite losing the Finals, Dallas built a competitive roster.

Dennis Lindsay has been in the Pistons’ front office for the past two seasons. He wasn’t in Dallas when Nico Harrison made the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers. Mark Cuban is excited to see Dennis Lindsay return to Dallas. This is huge for the future of their franchise. Tim Bontemps noted that owners Patrick Dumont and Mark Cuban have been in more contact over the past few months.
For now, head coach Jason Kidd’s job is safe. He signed a multi-year contract extension with the Mavericks this offseason. Additionally, Dallas prevented the Knicks from interviewing Kidd for their previous head coaching vacancy. The team remains committed to Kidd long-term. However, if the season starts to spiral out of control, Kidd’s job security could begin to lapse. Dallas will host the Suns on Wednesday, November 12th.
