Baseball Systems Software Engineer

The New York Mets are seeking a full-stack software engineer focused on front-end development to join the baseball systems team. The ideal candidate is an engineer with experience working in a fast-paced development environment, a solid engineering foundation, and a design eye. The position is filled in person at the Mets offices in Queens, New York. Baseball experience or knowledge preferred but not required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with other members of the Baseball Systems team and Data Engineering team to build full-stack software that meets the needs of various stakeholders in baseball operations
- Handle ad-hoc requests from stakeholders in a timely manner to ensure smooth operations of the entire organization
- Improve the quality of Baseball Systems’ front-end code base by establishing and enforcing good software engineering patterns and practices
- Drive engineering excellence across the stack through areas such as test coverage, improved typing, better code reuse, and more.
- Establish strong working relationships with stakeholders through thorough requirements gathering, validation and proactive communication
Qualifications, requirements:
- Degree or extensive experience in computer science or related field
- More than 3 years of relevant work experience
- Experience with component-based JavaScript frameworks, preferably React
- Experience using and creating APIs to integrate with data sources
- Ability to quickly improve domain knowledge
- Attention to detail and focus on good design
Qualifications, preferably:
- Experience working with designers and/or design software (Figma, Adobe XD, etc.)
- Experience with telemetry and monitoring suites
- Experience using cloud platforms
- Learn about CI/CD pipeline best practices and patterns
- General knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Have iOS development experience (Swift, React Native, etc.)

Salary: $120,000 – $160,000
