Manchester United, Indian cricket team meets at Carrington training ground

When Manchester United welcomes India’s national cricket team to Carrington, bringing two global sports powers together to bring football and cricket worlds together for a rare and memorable crossover.
India stopped spending time with Premier League club players and staff on Manchester United’s training ground in the Test series against England. The conference was captured in a series of vibrant photos and videos released by BCCI and ADIDAS, marked with the appropriate title: “Manchester United in Manchester”.
The visit started with a warm welcome from senior joint officials and club legend, followed by a symbolic jersey exchange – both squads wore personalized versions of each other’s shirts.
From there, the event incorporates friendly football and cricket challenges, shared laughter and insightful conversations between athletes.
Indian captain Shubman Gill spent some time talking to Bruno Fernandes about interdisciplinary leadership and psychological preparation.
“It’s very exciting to be able to meet the world’s top athletes with another sport,” Gill said. “It’s very inspiring to know their story. You’re playing two different sports, but the mentality you’re playing is very similar most of the time.”
Meanwhile, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir met with United Boss Ruben Amorim to discuss coaching philosophy and building team culture.
Gambier reflects: “It was a good interaction – what his ideology is about team sports and what I do about team sports.”
After a bleak 2024/25 season, perhaps United will use some common wisdom to enter the new campaign.
