Manchester United did not send an official offer to Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez will stay at Villa Park for the 2025/26 season, according to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.

Martinez has firmly established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League since arriving from Arsenal in 2020, and has been rumored in recent weeks.

United explored the possibility of bringing the Argentinian shooter to Old Trafford, hoping to replace the error-prone Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

However, Romano confirmed that despite the opening discussions of Manchester United, they have never entered the stage of submitting their official bids.

Manchester United meets personal terms with Emiliano Martinez

In the past few days, United have even agreed to personal terms to bring him to Old Trafford with the World Cup-winning goalkeeper.

The World Cup champion goalkeeper is also linked to a potential suitor in Turkey, but Romano reported that Martinez was not moved to the relocation of the super signpost, and made it clear that his preference was to continue to compete at the highest level in England.

The goalkeeper is widely expected to leave Villa this summer after Aston Villa’s emotional posture to fans in his last game of last season, but the move to Villa Park is not achieved for experienced goalkeepers.

At one stage, it seems he will be a newcomer joint goalkeeper as Ruben Amorim is actively searching for the market to solve one of his team’s biggest problems.

From Aston Villa’s perspective, the news is a major driving force. Martinez is the cornerstone of the Unai Emery project, bringing two world-class capabilities between pillars, with priceless presence in the locker room.

Although the player himself hopes to move to Manchester United this summer, the Red Devils have now signed the position through Real Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

Romano further explained that Villa and Martinez’s undisputed first place were “happy to continue” and that the club did not want to negotiate sales. As the player himself settles down and prepares to stay, the situation is now considered closed.
