Manchester City now “leaders” Chase signs £86 million star eager for Etihad’s move
Manchester City is now “leading” the pursuit of “special striker” and is keen to move to Etihad Stadium, according to transfer expert Graeme Bailey.
Guardiola hopes to trim the squad before new sports
The new Premier League campaign is a few days away, with City going to linger at home on Saturday, while Pep Guardiola will take the new look to Molineux with the team.
City isn’t afraid of cash this summer, bringing new options between attacking midfielder and sticks, and Ederson is expected to leave, considering Kevin de Bruyne left after his contract expires.

To make room for newcomers, there are also many departures, Jack Grealish becomes the latest player and joins Everton for a season-long loan deal.
Guardiola also advised him to hope to trim the team further, saying: “A lot of players should leave. New players, I don’t think so. We need to be a little less. I don’t like (many) players. One of the reasons we sent Vitor Reis to Girona is for that.”
However, Man City may have a final signature, with recent negotiations on Real Madrid striker Rodrygo, which could total about £86 million.
Bailey revealed in the training room that Man City is “leading” the Madrid Stars’ pursuit with Arsenal, the reporter added: “Both clubs are very attractive to him – they are both Champions League contenders and they look very suitable.”
Bailey also suggested that the Spanish side would be willing to separate from the Brazilians, adding: “Rodrygo was told that the situation-really loved him, but they were ready to move on and the player fully agreed with them, and he also thought the situation needed to be resolved.”
Rodrygo may be the city’s “special” signature
It’s hard for any central striker to compete for Erling Haaland’s starting position, but Carlo Ancelotti has lyrical about Brazil International in the past, saying: “He is a special striker who can play in every position. He is fast, smart and effective one-on-one. The learning has ended. He is a Real Madrid player for all purposes.”
However, the former Santos man has been on the wings for the entire career so far, suggesting that he can directly replace Greyrishi.
Given his attack in a Madrid shirt, there are every sign that the 24-year-old will also be an upgrade for Grealish, with 68 goals and 51 assists in the Spanish club’s 270 appearances.
Guardiola seems reluctant to add more to his team, but he should make room for Rodrygo as the Brazilian can take his frontline to the next level.
