Milwaukee’s Taurus Prince out indefinitely with bulging disc in neck

Through 10 games into the 2025-26 season, the Milwaukee Bucks are 6-4. The team is 2-3 in its past five games and lost to the Rockets 122-115 on Sunday.

Milwaukee will play the second game of a back-to-back on the road Monday night against Dallas. The Bucks will be without backup forward Taurean Prince for the third straight game. On Monday afternoon, NBA insider Shams Charania announced that Prince had a herniated disc in his neck. He will miss the Bucks indefinitely.

Taurean Prince to miss Bucks’ big game with neck injury

The 2025-26 season is Taurean Prince’s 10th season in the NBA and his second season with the Bucks. He played for six different teams during his NBA career. In the 2024-25 season, Tuarean Prince signed a one-year contract worth $2.98 million with the Milwaukee Bucks. He appeared in 80 of the team’s 82 games and started 73 games under head coach Doc Rivers. Prince averaged 8.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. In addition, his three-point shooting percentage reached a career-high 0.439% last season.

With this result, the Bucks signed Tuayan Prince to a two-year contract worth $7.12 million. His salary on the books for the 2025-26 season is $3.3 million. Prince has a $3.8 million player option for the 2026-27 season. The veteran forward has missed Milwaukee’s past two games. NBA insider Shams Charania reported on Monday that Prince has a herniated disc in his neck. He will miss important games for Milwaukee.

Charania noted that Prince underwent an MRI last week. It’s unclear when he will return to the lineup. Taurean Prince has started the first eight games of the 2025-26 season for Milwaukee. He averaged 21.1 minutes per game. While Prince is not a starter this season, he is a valuable depth piece for Doc Rivers. Milwaukee will no longer have his services for the foreseeable future.

Taurean Prince has missed Milwaukee’s last two games with a neck injury. Other role players will be asked to step up and replace Prince’s production. Bobby Portis, Amir Coffey and Kyle Kuzma could see increased playing time while Prince is out. Kuzma’s average playing time has reached 24.3 minutes per game. Doc Rivers will have to adjust his rotation while Prince is out. Milwaukee faces the Dallas Mavericks on the road Monday night.
