Man Utd prepares to bid for ‘superstar’ £39m

After months of speculation, Manchester United finally received the signature of Bryan Mbeumo earlier this week, with Cameroon International signing a five-year contract.

The hierarchy paid £71 million for the 25-year-old’s signature, Ruben Amorim’s second summer signing after Matheus Cunha joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

But while this may be a huge sum, it may be worth the investment if he replicates his form in the Premier League during the 2024/25 campaign.

He registered 20 league goals last time, and only Alexander Isak, Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland could find the Nets in the same period.

Despite the addition of Mbeumo, the hierarchy is working tirelessly to improve the current team to try to succeed in the 2025/26 season.

The latest update on Manchester United’s hunt for new additions this summer

Ollie Watkins is a player who has been in touch with Manchester United for the past few weeks, leading to interest on Amorim’s side this summer.

The England International will likely receive fees in the £60m region this summer as he is 29 and entering the back end of his career, a figure that could be slightly exaggerated.

However, in recent days another name has been thrown into the mix, and PSG forward Randal Kolo-Muani is also in their sight.

They claim the Red Devils are preparing an opening offer for the French after scoring 10 goals in 22 games on loan at Juventus, Italy.

It also noted that Newcastle United is looking for the 26-year-old, while Luis Enrique’s side is currently asking for a £39 million fee from the region to cover the signature this summer.

Why Manchester United’s £39m goal is better than Mbeumo

There is no doubt that signing a player after scoring 20 league goals in England’s highest flight is a great business for a club that lingers in the second half of the campaign.

However, there may be some concerns about his impact next season, given Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, it may be necessary to play an unnatural role in the club.

The Cameroonian was on the right-wing position during his time at Brentford, but may have been forced to play the role of the central offensive midfielder during his time at Old Trafford.

This may prove to be a huge investment in players without a familiar position and therefore may fail to replicate his outstanding performance from 2024/25.

As a result, Kolo Muani may be a better choice this summer, and has been eager to hand it to the manager since bringing Reins back to the ins last November.

When comparing the Frenchman’s statistics with those of Mbeumo in recent seasons, he managed to improve him in many key areas, highlighting the threat he posed in the offensive zone.

Kolo Muani, labeled as a “superstar” by former Baron D’Or champion Lothar Mattthäus, may have exceeded his target, but he hit the same goal with a target percentage, showing the clinical edge he had before scoring.

He also managed to shoot higher shots on the target standard accuracy while winning more air battles – delivering Amorim his all-round talent at the top of the court.

This dominance is further reflected in the situation where he completes a breakup, and he can also provide others with a higher pass completion rate highlight while also completing attacks on his own.

£39 million could be a good fee for the 26-year-old striker, who will enter the main year of his career if he completes his trip to Old Trafford.

If he can solve the problem that the Red Devils are currently in the last third, he will be worth every penny, full of blank space at the top of the court, and then make him better than Mbeumo.
