Magic, Moe Wagner agrees to a one-year, $5 million contract

Moe Wagner, the Orlando Magic and Free agent center, has agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal to return to the team, a league source told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Friday. Wagner’s agent Jason Glushon negotiated a new contract with Magic executives.
Moe Wagner joins Magic in 2021-22 season
Wagner, 28, was selected as the 25th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. After three stops in his first three seasons, he was abandoned at the end of the 2020-21 season and was taken over by Orlando.
Germany’s Hooper was in the mid-year of his career-best mid-year past season, suffering a late-season ACL tear in late December. He shot 56.2% from 30 games (a start) with his career high of 12.9 points.
The 6-foot-11 big man is the older brother of star Franz Wagner, who turned down a $11 million club option for the upcoming season last Sunday.
Wagner is expected to resume ACL injury in the first half of the 2025-26 season and miss the first half of the 2025-26 season.
Wagner competes in NBA Sixth Person of the Year
Moe Wagner scored 23 times in two 2024-25 seasons, including a career-high 32 points in 25 minutes on the New York Knicks’ 100-91 bench on December 15.
Wagner is also an important part of Orlando culture under coach Jamahl Mosley. He was the fourth leading scorer and before he was injured, he appeared to be the NBA candidate of the year.
“We’ve been playing hard since we got here,” Wagner said recently. “That’s the representative of the church. I know, even if we didn’t win, I know no one wants to see us. … I know playing Orlando magic is not a fun night, it’s something we embrace.”
Magic re-signed Thes Jones
The move comes shortly after the Magic signed free agent veteran Tyus Jones. He hit 44.8% on the floor with a shooting percentage of 44.8%, scoring 10.2 points in the best career 41.4% last season.
Orlando also rejected the team choices of Gary Harris and Cory Joseph. Franz Wagner signed a $224 million rookie in July last year’s five-year rookie Max Extension.
After Wagner signed, Orlando had 13 players on standard contracts, just below the first batch of aprons. However, magic is hard to limit on that number because they use the intermediate exception in non-tax to sign Jones.
Additionally, the Magic signed a rookie-scale contract on Thursday. They are expected to sign a second round pick in the coming days.
