Luciano Darderi won his fifth ATP Tour title on Sunday with a narrow victory in the BCI Seguros Chile Open final. Two weeks after losing the final in Buenos Aires, the Argentinian-born Italian beat Yannick Hanfmann 7-6(6), 7-5 to claim the trophy on the clay of the ATP 250 in Santiago.

Now with a 5-1 record in ATP Tour finals, all on clay since 2024, Dadri is the player with the most tour-level clay-court titles since the start of the 2024 season, breaking a tie with Carlos Alcaraz. He also has 48 wins on clay during this period (second only to Francisco Cerundolo’s 49), including a 16-2 record since July.

“It feels really good. I didn’t expect to win here this week because I’ve never played here beyond the quarter-finals, so I’m happy,” the 24-year-old said ahead of the presentation ceremony. “This is my second final of the year so to win early is impressive and I’m confident for the rest of the year.”

Together with Flavio Coboli’s victory in Acapulco this week, Dadri’s victory also marks the fifth time in the Open era that two Italians have won a Tour-level title in the same week. The pair also achieved the feat in March 2025, when Dadri won Marrakech and Coboli won Bucharest.

He fell two points behind on three occasions in a tense start, but Dudley responded strongly after an early break to reassert control of the match. From 1-2, he scored 8 points in a row to lead 3-2. Neither player faced another break point until Dudley broke in the final game to make it 2-0 in the Lexus ATP series against Hanfmann.

At the age of 34, the German was bidding to become the third oldest first-time ATP Tour champion but fell short in the tour final with a 0-3 record. He hit 10 aces to Dudley’s six, according to Infosys ATP statistics, but struggled against Dudley’s 80% first-serve win rate.

Dadri, who enters this week with a career-high No. 21 in the PIF ATP Rankings, has added another 200 points this week to the PIF ATP Live Rankings, narrowing the gap to the top 20 to 66 points.
