Luciano Darderi settled into life well as defending champion of the Hassan II Grand Prix in Marrakech on Wednesday.

The top seed defeated fellow Italian Mattia Bellucci 6-4, 6-2 in the first round of the ATP 250 clay court event. According to Infosys ATP statistics, Dadri faced no break points and converted three of the nine break points he won.

Dadri won his first ATP Tour trophy at the 2024 ATP 250 Finals in Cordoba, having won his second title in Marrakech a year ago. The 24-year-old has won three more titles since then (Bastad and Umag in 2025, Santiago in 2026) but defended his Tour-level title for the first time this week in Morocco.

“I’m happy to be back here after last year,” Dudley said after beating Bellucci in the 78th minute. “It’s a special feeling to be back here. This is my first time coming back to defend my title, so I’m happy to be here. I will try my best to defend my title this year.”

The No. 19 player in the PIF ATP rankings, Dadri has won 17 of his last 19 tour-level clay-court matches. He will face Yannick Hanfmann in the quarterfinals in Marrakech, where the eighth seed defeated home favorite Karim Bennani 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-2.

Earlier on Wednesday, third seed Corentin Moutet started his title bid in equally fast fashion. The Frenchman defeated home favorite Taha Badi 6-0, 6-2 to reach the ATP Tour quarter-finals for the first time this year. World No. 32 Moutet will next face Marco Truungelliti in his first Lexus ATP meeting.

Argentinian qualifier Trengeliti defeated fifth seed Kamil Makhzak 7-6(4), 6-3 on day three in Marrakech. Thanks to his run, the 36-year-old is currently up 17 spots to No. 100 in the PIF ATP live rankings. On Monday, he could become the oldest person to crack the top 100 for the first time in the past 50 years.
