Lorenzo Musetti came within two wins of advancing to the Nitto ATP Finals at the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Greek Championship on Thursday, beating Alexandre Muller 6-2, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals in Athens.
The stakes couldn’t be higher. To secure a dream debut in his home country’s prestigious season finale, the Italian must lift the trophy at the ATP 250. Felix Auger-Aliassime currently holds the eighth and final qualifying spot heading into the PIF ATP Live event in Turin.
The pair will be thrust directly into the spotlight regardless of their match in Turin, where they will join Yannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton in Bjorn Borg’s group following Thursday’s official draw.
But 1,400 miles away from Turin, Musetti’s focus was firmly on the task before him. The 23-year-old sealed victory in style with a crisp finish that pulled Muller from corner to corner and grabbed his first chance of service after 82 minutes. After reaching his seventh semi-final of the season, Musetti will next face Sebastian Korda.
Korda defeated Miomir Kekmanović 6-3, 6-2 to earn her third tour semifinal spot of the season.
The American also defeated Kekmanovic in the final in Adelaide in January and now leads the pair’s Lexus ATP Head2Head series 3-1. Korda hit 13 aces and won 30 of 33 first-serve points against Kekmanovic, according to Infosys ATP statistics.
The 25-year-old, who has moved up one spot to No. 48 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings, is chasing his first title of the season in the final event of 2025. He’s expected to end the year in the top 50.
