Liverpool reportedly are interested in signing Athletic Bilbao midfielder Mikel Jauregizar at the end of the season.
The 21-year-old has been a major player in La Liga costume this season and has impressed him over the past few months. The talented defensive midfielder is reportedly on Liverpool’s radar and they may take action in the summer.
According to a report by Fichajes, Liverpool hopes to bring in a quality defensive midfielder in the summer who is passionate about Spanish midfielders. Jauregizar is currently considered one of Spain's best young midfield talents and he may be the next big breakout star in his country.
Liverpool can use Mikel Jauregizar
Due to his playing style, the player is compared to Manchester City star Rodri.
Liverpool desperately needs a quality defensive midfielder, the 21-year-old may be their ideal acquisition. Wataru Endo has surpassed his peak and can be sold this summer. The Japanese star also wants to leave the club.
He will help protect the back four and win him around. His arrival will allow creative players to operate with more freedom as well. He averaged 2.5 tackles per game this season.
Can red be completed?
He signed a contract with the Spanish club until 2027, and Liverpool will hope to negotiate a reasonable deal for him. However, Athletic Bilbao hopes to expand his contract. Whether they can convince players to sign a new agreement with them remains to be seen. If Liverpool can complete the deal, it will be a reliable long-term investment for them.
Jauregizar is very talented and has a bright future. In the long run, he can develop into a key player in the club. If Liverpool can sign him with reasonable money, the transfer looks like it's cheap.
