Leeds United need to sign a quality left back after the junior FIRPO leaves and have a connection with Ben Chilwell.

The 28-year-old defender has no future at Chelsea and he is on loan at Crystal Palace. He will hope to sort out his permanent future in the summer, and Ian Darke suggests that he might replace Leeds’ Firpo on radar.

“If they can’t find a good alternative, it’s just a big blow,” he told MOT LEEDS News.

“Suspect them to have a line up and people like it [Aaron] Cresswell and Chilwell are on the market.

“The promoted club has a problem with getting better players to sign possible relegation battles; more average players will take Premier League money and seize the opportunity.”

Firpo chose to leave Leeds United after his contract expires and he is expected to join his former club Real Betis.

Leeds can use Chelsea defender

Leeds need quality left backs, and Chilwell may be their quality addition. The chance to play in the Premier League regularly with Leeds can be exciting for the defender.

He was highly praised in England a few years ago, but Chelsea’s actions did not give him much. He will hope to get his career back on track with regular football, and joining Leeds might be the ideal choice. They can give him the opportunity he needs now.

At the same time, Chelsea also hopes to get rid of the players. He is obviously not part of their future plans, and it makes no sense to them to stick to him. They will hope to sell him and get some money back from his departure. Chelsea need to improve their team this summer, and getting rid of underperforming will be ideal.

The Blues paid about £50 million in signatures, but the move did not resolve them. They should want to reduce the losses on the defender and move on.

Meanwhile, Leeds will hope to become a regular at the Premier League. They need quality players to stay up late next season. They won’t want to go back to the championship.

Someone like Chilwell has excellent quality and experience in the Premier League and he may become a major player in Leeds.
