Laver Cup: Taylor Fritz

Inspired by Andre Agassi’s Livewire Courtside presence, Taylor Fritz maintained the courage to beat Alexander Zverev and won a 15-9 victory against Europe in the Laver Cup.

Team World leads the penultimate place between the United States and German 12-9.

Winning three points, the third-ranked Zverev in the world could have balanced the game, but Fritz, ranked fifth, won 6-3 7-6 (7-4) in San Francisco.

He said the team environment and encouragement of captain and fellow Agassi inspired his championship victory and promised that there would be a lot of celebrations.

“We’re going to have a nice night. We’ll definitely pop up champagne in the locker room,” said Fritz, who beat world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz on Saturday, when the team established a 9-3 overnight lead.

“The team’s energy…the moments of winning feel much better, and the moments of losing feel worse.

The victory was the third victory in the eighth Laver Cup after its 2022 and 2023 victory.
