Knicks, Mavericks “Jason Kidd”

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, head coach Jason Kidd of the New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks reportedly had “mutual interest” between the current job openings in the Knicks.

“The way I describe is that both sides have mutual conspiracy SportsCenter.

Jason Kidd was previously traded as head coach

Windhorst noted that the Mavericks could trade with the Knicks involved with Kidd.

Kidd was previously the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets to the Milwaukee Bucks, serving as the head coach of the 2014 second-round draft pick.

Additionally, Kidd spent the final year of his career in New York as part of the team’s 2012-13 season. He averaged 6.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 76 games.

Knicks are expected to ask for permission from Dallas to interview Kidd

On Friday, NBA insider Marc Stein also reported that the Knicks are expected to ask Dallas for permission to interview Kidd “in the coming days.”

But, James L. Edwards III of track and field, reported that the “expectation” was that the Mavericks would deny the demand because Kidd had two years left on the contract.

Three days after eliminating in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, New York began looking for a new head coach.

In four seasons

Kidd has been the head coach of the NBA for 9 years. He has a record of 179-149 (.546) in four seasons, including the 2024 NBA Finals.

Dallas’s goal to return to the finals was interrupted when the team made a shocking decision to trade superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers with Anthony Davis as Anthony Davis.

According to Edwards, Kidd “didn’t always like a Dallas spokesperson.”

Other potential head coaching candidates for the Knicks include former Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown and former Monffith Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins.

Former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham and former Charlotte Hornets head coach James Borrego may also be interested, a source told Edwards on Monday.
