NHL Rumor: Toronto Maple Leaf GM Fills First Six Holes
Anthony Stewart: “What do you think of Toronto, they find they’ve been avoiding their top wingers so far.”
Dave Pagnotta: “Yes. I mean, this is their next one. They are one of the teams that start to start, or start to get all over the trade market, rather than the free agent market, to attract the top six wingers to increase their team. Over the past few days, some of these free agents have begun to suggest that these free agents are interested in the Leaf, or to explore other options.
Apparently, we see (Brock) Boeser staying in Vancouver (Brad) Marchand staying in Florida, and so on. So they began to explore the trade market. Therefore, they are very concerned about the depth part. Currently, from a free agent perspective, I think in terms of the impact of things, they will try to do anything, and they will continue to explore the trade market to see what is there and available.
NHL Rumor: Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks
I think they poked it on (Nikolaj)ehlers. I’m not sure that’s totally candid. But I do know they’ve started to scatter around, looking for what options they can choose when they try to fish for the top six, and it’s a leading winger.
The problem is that they don’t have a lot of assets. They might just sit down and see if there is an opportunity later in the summer or wait for next season to see if kids like Easton Cowan can declare one of them internally. ”
nhlrumors.com Note: Even after joining Matias Maccelli from Utah Mammoth, Toronto Maple Leaf continues to look for top wingers. Toronto is linked to some of the remaining unrestricted free agents, including Jack Roslovic. Not to mention, while he doesn’t fit into the top six characters, there are some rumbles hoping to bring Max Pacioretty back to the bottom six. But, as the saying goes, the first six forwards don’t grow on the trees and the price remains steep. It will be interesting to see how maple leaves meet this need.
