Lourdes Gurriel Jr. is diagnosed with tear ACL

Rattlesnake announced right-handed today Taylor Rashi And infielder Connor Kaiser Have been recalled from Triple ARENO. In the corresponding action, they chose Juan Burgos Arrive in Reno and set off the outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. On the list of 10-day injuries, right ACL tear.

Apparently, Guriel was injured last night. He and the center fielder Fire Alexander Both chase a ball in the gap. Gurriel hoped to avoid his teammates, but then fell to the ground in obvious pain. Eventually, he had to be pushed away and couldn’t fit on his leg properly.
For Gurriel and The Snakes, today’s diagnosis was obviously bad. They have not announced the expected timeline yet, but tearing ACLs usually require nearly a year of recovery before the player recovers all his strength. Gurriel will certainly miss the rest of the season and also miss a significant part of 2026.
Gurriel was originally before the 2023 season with Gabriel Morenoas part of the transaction sent Daulton Varsho Go to the Blue Jays. Gurriel was an upcoming free agent at the time but re-signed after a good season in Arizona. He returns through a three-year, $42mm deed, with a club option for 2027 and opt out for him after 2025.
The possibility of triggering an exit is not particularly possible. This year he only hit .248/.295/.418, and the line is converted to 94 WRC+. However, he did have 19 home runs, and the overall lack of production is due to the average hitting average score on the ball. That’s much lower than this year’s .291 league average and Gurriel’s personal career.
His decision effectively depends on whether he thinks he can play for a year and 18mm. His current contract pays him $13mm in 13mm next year, making a 5mm acquisition on the $14mm club option in 2027. Maybe the hot end might make him consider getting rid of the money, but it’s a pointless one. Since he will miss some time next year, he will definitely give up on his chance to choose.
For the Rattlers, this increases their physical body count in 2026, even before the season begins. Corbin Burnes Tommy John is asked to have surgery in June, so most or all upcoming campaigns will be missed. Tommy Henry,,,,, Black Walston,,,,, aj puk and Justin Martinez He also underwent UCL surgery this year and was facing a long absence. Now, Gurriel has added another name to the list.
These other names are pitchers, and Gurriel minus the key part of the club’s outfield mix. Without him, the 2026 outfield consists of men Corbin Carroll,,,,, Alek Thomas,,,,, Jake McCarthy,,,,, Jorge Barrosa and Alexander. Carroll is a star, but it is a questionable group. Thomas entered his fourth season and had a good defensive record, but he didn’t hit. McCarthy has occasionally shown a flash of ability on the plate, but his good season may have been fueled by Babip Luck, who is a terrible year this year. Alexander is doing well now, but he beats a lot and has only recently moved from the infield to the outfield. Barossa has only made 58 major league appearances and has not left a deep impression.
As winter comes, the Rattlesnake has a lot to do. Given their injuries, deadline trades and upcoming free agents, they need to reshape the entire pitcher. They have a question mark on the infield corner after the transaction Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suárez On the deadline. These attractions may be like Jordan Lawlar and Tyler Locklear But neither of them is locked. Guril could have been a solid regular on next year’s team, but now there’s one more thing on the to-do list.
