Keegan Bradley warns PGA finals of “violent” mud ball

Keegan Bradley will be captain of the US Ryder Cup on Bethpage Black later this year. But first, he has a chance to come back to win Sunday in the 2025 PGA Championship. Despite being six games behind, he was shocked by the players' heads in the final round.

Bradley was shocked when he announced his captain of the 2025 US Ryder Cup with the rest of us. But this week at the 2025 PGA Championship, Bradley offers shocking value.

He entered the final round with a chance to beat the Ryder Cup player and win a second PGA title. It will be his second major win since the 2011 PGA won at the Atlanta Sports Club 14 years ago.

Bradley distributed two-thirds of his guts under 38 on a crazier Saturday at Quail Hollow. That put him in the Under-5 T8 with a six-stroke lead in Scottie Scheffler.

After the round, Bradley was happy with how he handled it in Round 3, especially in his last five holes, which he made three of three holes.

“That's great. That's really hard. Any round under par is great,” Bradley shared after Saturday night's round. “I’m proud of the way I completed the last three holes, which I think are the three toughest ending holes in the world.

But Bradley also has warnings for all PGA competitors entering North Carolina's final round.

All week, professionals complained about mud balls on host Quail How. From Scheffler to Xander Schauffele to Shane Lowry and ESPN analyst Curtis Strange, criticism has been frequently criticized in the first two rounds.

Saturday seemed quiet. But after his round, Bradley cleared any thoughts about the end of the mud ball issue. He said he had gone through something really bad on Saturday and he hoped they would play a big role on Sunday.

“You have to be really tough because there are still evil mud balls out there. I have a violent couple,” Bradley said. “You just need to be tough. There are holes that can make birds on it, and obviously having the first three holes is really really hard.”

With the difficult conditions in the game and the dangerous closing of Quail Hollow, Bradley believes he still has a chance to win.

“No matter what happens tomorrow, in these finished holes, you never know what will happen. It seems like I'm going to lead the leader, which is nice, you know, hopefully to go there and get a good grade. But we're in a great position,” Bradley said.

Although he certainly wanted to bring home his second Wanamaker trophy on Sunday night, Bradley also admitted that the Ryder Cup was still the most important. And he's glad some of his star team members performed well this week, even if that means one of them won the trophy.

“I’m really happy to meet Scottie [Scheffler] and Bryson [DeChambeau] There. Bradley shared that I've been peeking at the rankings to see where I'm and where our people are.

Bradley stood out in the final round of Sunday's 2025 PGA Championship at 2:10 pm ET. The 2025 Ryder Cup will be held on September 26 at Bethpage Black, New York.
